Innovation Cells is Constellium’s specialized innovation unit that helps our divisions to improve and enrich our products and processes, explore new markets, and foster growth across all our businesses activities.
Sharing knowledge
The unit works with all our primary business activities. In partnership with these teams, Constellium’s Innovation Cells unit helps transform and develop ideas into concepts, working on anything from idea generation to prototypes and business plans.
A multidisciplinary team

Innovation Cells services
Specifically, Constellium’s business areas can benefit from the wide range of services Innovation Cells offers.
- Materials engineering: technology scouting, material and process selection, prototype development, technology scale-up;
- New product development: customer needs identification, market potential evaluation, partner identification, business case development;
- Innovation management: innovation process optimization, “ideation” (idea generation), innovation coaching.
Putting ideas into action
Since its creation in 2008, Innovation Cells has supported business units on 10 innovation projects. These include a solar collector for our Packaging and Automotive Rolled Products business unit, aluminium foam for our Aerospace and Transportation business unit, and an innovative aluminium solution in the renewable energy market for our Automotive Structures and Industry business unit.
