Around the world, conflict through insurgency has created demand for armored vehicles that are lighter, more agile, and above all, better able to improve survavibility for both military personnel in combat and their suppliers.
To fulfill these needs, Constellium is working with many of the world’s leading armored vehicle makers on aluminium and alloy solutions that offer a viable alternative to steel. Aluminium lightens the weight of hulls and components so that vehicles are not slowed down by the addition of more protection for their users.
Lightweight alloys that offer outstanding impact resistance can also provide the armor itself, either alone or as part of a multi-material “sandwich” of armor to optimize personnel protection.

Supplying world-class defense manufacturers
Our customers include many of the world’s leading armored vehicle manufacturers in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Under a long-term partnership agreement, we provide a full range of high-performance aluminium products and solutions for military vehicles to BAE Land & Armaments L.P in North America.
We also supply materials to many other leading armored vehicle designers and manufacturers, including General Dynamics in the US and NEXTER and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann in Europe.
