EcoVadis recognizes Constellium’s commitment to sustainable development

14 January 2014

Constellium has been awarded the Silver Recognition Level rating by EcoVadis, a rating agency that specializes in sustainable development and ethics. EcoVadis operates a collaborative platform, allowing companies to assess the environmental and social performance of their suppliers on a global scale. “This rating recognizes our progress in Constellium’s sustainability roadmap, and reflects notably a high level of transparency with respect to our governance and our partnerships throughout the supply chain,” commented Laurent Musy, Chairman of Constellium’s Sustainability Council.

Transparency is also about giving facts and evidence. In this respect, reporting to the Carbon Disclosure Project has enabled Constellium not only to make all its greenhouse gas emissions data openly available, but also to identify areas of improvement with respect to climate change. Similarly, but on a broader range of sustainability parameters, Constellium has published its first Sustainability Report according to the Global Reporting Initiative principles, with an application level check A, again reflecting its willingness to share openly all its facts and policies. In its Sustainability Report entitled ‘Altogether more sustainable’, Constellium has set measurable targets for governance, people, operations and products, endorsing as well as industry targets to emphasize the need for increased cooperation throughout the aluminium value chain.

In the same spirit of cooperation, Constellium is a founding member of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative that aims to set an environmental, social and governance standard for companies involved in the aluminium value chain, from bauxite extraction to consumer goods manufacturing. Constellium’s commitment, which is based on key principles and core values, has been reaffirmed through its participation in the United Nations Global Compact, supporting 10 key principles in the areas of human rights, labor relations, the environment and anti-corruption.
