03 October 2011
Constellium, a global leader in the manufacturing of value-added aluminium products, announces today that the company will invest €28 million in its Neuf-Brisach (France) and Singen (Germany) plants to meet growing customer demand and further optimize production processes.
€13 million will be invested in Neuf-Brisach in the modernization of the pre-heating process. The plant is a major supplier of rolled aluminium products to the beverage and food packaging, as well as the automotive, markets. The investment plan includes the installation of a new state-of-the-art pusher furnace which will consolidate Constellium’s leading position in the growing can packaging market.
In parallel, the rolling mill in Singen, which specializes in functional surfaces for the packaging, building, renewable energy and automotive markets, will benefit from a €4 million investment for the revamping of two of its pusher furnaces in order to improve performance and operating flexibility.
€11 million will be invested in the installation of a new state of the art, high productivity press line in Singen, focusing mainly on extruded profiles for the rapidly growing automotive Crash Management Systems (CMS) business, where Constellium has a leading position. The modernisation plan for Constellium’s Extrusion activities also calls for maximum energy efficiency and highly efficient fabrication capabilities to suit demanding customer requirements. This investment will ensure a significant step in capability and productivity improvement to support Constellium's internal supply chain for the Automotive Structures plant in Gottmadingen (Germany).
“These significant investments represent a long-term commitment to consolidate our leading positions in core markets,” stated Christel Bories, Chief Executive Officer of Constellium. “Modernizing our plants to continuously improve productivity, quality and energy efficiency, and increase value for our customers in the long run remain Constellium’s absolute priority,” Christel Bories added.
