Job Summary

The Lubrication SME defines requirements, ensures compliance, and directs improvements in testing and control of Hot and Cold Rolling process lubricants; sets standards for process lubricant equipment operation, coordinates efforts to improve process lubricant performance; and assists in problem solving and waste reduction efforts affecting all plant processes.  

The Lubrication SME will coordinate proactive lubrication focused activities, including but not limited to preventative and predictive maintenance, coordination of inspections and repairs, development and implementation of site, industry and corporate standards and coordination of development of team members and contractors as needed. 

 
Responsibilities 

  • Develop and monitor controls for Hot and Cold rolling lubricants that maximize productivity, minimize costs, and ensure rolled products meet both internal and external customer requirements. 

  • Investigate and solve rolling problems potentially affected by process lubricant performance using data analysis and other problem-solving techniques. 

  • Work with Constellium R&D resources, other Constellium rolling facilities, lubricant suppliers and other outside technical organizations to ensure best rolling lubrication practices and technology are employed at the Muscle Shoals plant. 

  • Ensure proper analytical techniques are employed for analysis and control of rolling coolants and lubricants. 

  • Understand and optimize the interactions of lubrication, surface conditions, roll grinding and friction for the rolling operation. 

  • Work with operations, maintenance, engineering and procurement to optimize lubrication control and improve rolling performance. 

  • Monitor and track usage of process lubricant oils and additives and plant mechanical and hydraulic fluids in support of efforts to minimize usage and costs. 

  • Monitor performance of and optimize coolant/lubricant control and filtration systems for both hot and cold rolling operations. 

  • Work with maintenance and engineering on selection and monitoring usage of auxiliary lubricants. 

  • Provide tribology expertise in support of selection, evaluation, and monitoring of performance of other plant lubricants, including roll grinding, post lubes, mechanical lubricants, and hydraulic fluids. 

  • Provide supervisory leadership to the Lubrication Specialists throughout the site. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering is preferred or MLT1,2 MLA 1,2 MLE 

  • 7 Years of’ comparable industrial maintenance experience with proven track record 

  • Lubrication Experience and knowledge of operating controls 

  • Strong interpersonal skill, and the ability to communicate and coach effectively in verbal and written formats with strong presentation skills 

  • Strong time management skills  

  • Project coordination experience, scheduling, planning and communications 

  • Microsoft Project, Excel, Word proficiency required 

  • SAP experience preferred 

  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems Experience required
