Job Summary: The TCS Applications Engineer is responsible for product developments, new vehicle launches, as well as mass production technical supporting for Automotive OEM customers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Constellium Bowling Green internal departments the launching of new products and vehicle platforms. Responsible for the supply of material to prototype and pre-series events according to customer requirements.
  • Guides the customer in the selection of the best product for each application, from alloy and temper, to blank size and orientation, to lubricant and packaging.
  • Coordinates the activities during the tool development process, ensuring that stamping tools are tuned and capable of producing parts within the limits of the mill product specified for the application.
  • Responsible for the APQP process.
  • This job requires approximately 30% travel time.  Regularly visit customer sites to ensure that the mill products meet requirements and to identify areas of improvement and cost savings.  Regular visits to the mill.
  • Assist as a technical expert in the problem resolution at customer sites.
  • Coordinates with mill internal quality disciplines the appropriate containment and disposition of non-conformant products at customer and sub-supplier sites, and ensures that follow up corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Maintains the assigned customer portal to initiate material returns and problem reporting and resolution.
  • Comply with all EHS programs and requirements for the site.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy is required
  • Experience in dealing with sheet stamping or other metal forming operations is preferred
  • Experience within aluminum or steel or heavy process manufacturing operation preferred
  • Strong multidisciplinary organization skills, balancing customer needs with the pace of internal product development is required
  • Experience in automotive production cycle preferred.
  • Hands-on, willing and able to resolve shop floor issues at customer sites, drawing cooperation from operators as well as technical personnel.
  • Fluent English is required, multilingual is preferred
