Job Summary: The Graduate Electrical Engineer will apply the principles of Electrical Engineering, physics and materials science for the practical application of design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of manufacturing systems for the optimization of equipment, procedures, and departmental budgets.
Responsibilities
- Works with the engineering group to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new installations meets and exceeds performance expectations
- Ensures compliance to national safety and engineering standards is met
- Performs electrical design of power systems, controls, wiring, and equipment
- Develops planned maintenance activities focused on electrical systems, instrumentation, and drive systems
- Assists in the training of team members on electrical standards and processes
- Provides the site with LOTO coordination supervision
- Provide the site with ARC Flash compliance coordination and supervision
- Participates in the final check-out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications
- Ensures that condition and documentation preservation is performed
- Understands and utilizes Reliability Centered Maintenance methods (development of Work Instructions, support Reliability Engineer and Techs, continuous improvement of equipment performance)
- Understands and utilizes PLC Control and Safety management systems (able to read/ follow schematics, implement corrective actions, a solid understanding of the theories and good practices)
- Assists with contractor coordination and contract management (writing Scope of Work, General Work Permits, Establishing Lock Out Tagout procedures, Reviewing Job Hazard Analysis, scheduling the work, etc.)
- Assists in the supervision of supplier interventions during installation, challenge solutions, and refines needs as necessary
- Technical Support of Production Operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience dealing with Low- to Medium-Voltage electrical distribution systems, AC& DC motors, process instrumentation preferably in an aluminum (highly preferred), continuous rolling mill/process line type environment
- Proficient in the design of electrical systems and controls
- Ability to read Schematics, Layouts, Equipment and site Drawings, mark up and make corrections as needed
- Ability to utilize AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent 3D design software
- Troubleshooting and root-cause analysis Demonstrated familiarity of National Electrical Codes, including NFPA 70E
- Must be proficient MS Excel, MS Word and familiar with MS Project
- Perform functional analysis and verification
- Exceptional team working skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead effective meetings
- Knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Knowledge of Root cause analysis (RCA)
