Quantifying mechanical response and characterizing internal structure from the macro - to the nano-scale is central to understanding and improving our materials’ performance.

  • Mechanical Testing

Our mechanical testing lab has unique equipment enabling a wide range of tests from tensile loading at controlled temperatures/environments to complex damage tolerance research. Our know-how includes measuring and monitoring crack propagation using optical and COD compliance, or/and potential drop and deformation with a no-contact 3-D system. We use a 250-tonne machine to study innovative materials and design solutions for aerospace applications.

  • Material characterization and analysis

Materials characterization requires both mastery of analytical techniques and detailed knowledge of our products. Our microscopes and analytical techniques enable imaging and quantifying the structure of our products from the millimetric to the atomic scale, with concomitant analysis of local chemical compositions. We enhance our characterization
