Constellium Collaborates on Renault Emblème Concept Car to Advance Automotive Decarbonization

Innovation Highlights
Constellium is proud to play a key role in the Renault Emblème concept car, an exciting project that highlights a shared commitment to decarbonization and sustainable mobility.
As part of this collaboration, Constellium supplied advanced aluminum solutions for different components of the vehicle, including the door assemblies. The Emblème concept car represents Renault’s forward-looking approach to eco-design, featuring a dual-energy electric-hydrogen powertrain and extensive use of low-impact, recyclable materials.
Lighter weight, higher performance
Constellium’s role centered on demonstrating the feasibility of manufacturing key components using current qualified aluminum grades with significantly reduced embedded carbon emissions. This objective was successfully achieved through a combination of low-carbon primary aluminum and recycled pre- and post-consumer scrap, resulting in a greater than 70% reduction in carbon footprint compared to the European average for primary aluminum.
These lightweight aluminum materials met all technical and performance specifications required for automotive use, underscoring their viability for future serial production.
“Constellium is proud to contribute to the Renault Emblème, a project that exemplifies the automotive industry's shift toward circularity and climate responsibility,” said Andreas Afseth, Technical Director, Global Automotive and Specialties at Constellium, pictured below. “Our sustainable aluminum solutions demonstrate that high performance and low environmental impact can be delivered together.”
The collaboration highlights Constellium’s ongoing efforts to support automotive customers in achieving their sustainability targets through development of low-carbon, high-recycled-content aluminum products. With aluminum’s inherent recyclability and lightweight properties, it plays a key role in enabling both vehicle efficiency and material circularity.
Constellium remains committed to supporting the transition to low-carbon mobility through innovation, partnership, and sustainable materials.
