Continuous Improvement Specialist

Primary Purpose

  • To successfully manage and execute sustainable process improvements, it is critical that a dedicated resource is organizing, aligning and leading Continuous Improvement (CI) processes leveraging Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies driving effective solution sustainment.

  • This role will focus on Continuous Improvement projects and initiatives driving improvements in EHS First, Product Quality, On Time Delivery, OEE, and Cost performance by leveraging Lean Six Sigma methodologies ranging from visual lean systems to automated controls driven to effectively “sustain the gains” achieved.


Key Accountabilities

  • Assist with strategies to continuously improve operations and process within the APU
  • Facilitates all activities related to continuous improvement and performance enhancement
  • Employs lean and Six Sigma methodologies and tools such as value stream mapping, spaghetti diagrams, swim lanes, SIPOC, etc. in order to accomplish APU objectives eliminating waste related to all facets of operations
  • Leads monthly KPI review meetings to determine progress to goals and gaps to be addressed
  • Develops the shop floor Visual Control systems according to the Constellium Lean Standards
  • Trains the Managers on how to perform the daily Management Routines by using the shop floor visual control systems
  • Contributes to SOP deployment reviews by proposing and following a workshops plan
  • Contributes to the design of the new processes to develop the Lean Engineering principles
  • Creates and implements Recovery Plans when deemed necessary
  • Leads Continuous improvement projects leveraging cross functional teams to execute the strategy
  • Drive daily accountability, ownership, and leadership discipline


Leadership Competencies, Technical Skills Requirement

  • Bachelors in business admin., management, engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ industry experience (preferably aluminum) with project experience
  • Green Belt Certification required
  • Has technical knowledge of continuous improvement process
  • Leads in a “team based” context
  • Has a passion for continuous improvement
  • Ability to influence Senior Leaders and Managers
  • Ability and willingness to conduct workshops
  • Ability to deliver Lean training
  • Ability to build rapport and communicate with shop floor employees
  • Expert in Lean Tools and principles
  • Hands-on, willing to spend most of his/her time (ca. 80%) to help on the shop floor
  • Convincing, persistent, open-minded and good communicator
