Interview with Felix Alby, Plant controller San Louis Potosí | Constellium
Constellium is a publicly traded company, and our finance department’s role is crucial to achieving our goal: to become the most profitable company in our industry.
As a member of our finance department, you will collaborate with different employees in an ongoing effort to boost our profitability by giving the adequate information at the right time to foster the right decisions for the future, keeping an eye on cash, and developing challenging projects to improve and accelerate the decision making process.
What do you like most about working for Constellium?
I like the fact that Constellium has roots going back more than 100 years, yet it still works in what I would call a “start-up mode”. This background generates a very creative environment allowing for great initiatives and constant improvements. The chain of command is short. Ideas can be raised and implemented quickly. People working here come from all around the globe and they are all contributing to make this place a great place to work.
What inspires you about working in Finance?
At the end of the day, I believe most things in the business boils down to how much it costs, or how much it earns, which means pretty much everything has to go through Finance one way or the other. Therefore we are in constant interaction with others, a valuable Business Partner to drive value creation. What makes Finance most interesting in my opinion, is that it helps understand the past, but is also key to looking forward, taking the right decisions.
What skills or past experiences do you think helped you become who you are at Constellium?
I have always liked working in project mode, with limited time and interacting with lots of different people. I have also spent more than half of my life abroad and really enjoy traveling and living in foreign countries, discovering new cultures. Working at Constellium enables me to continue doing what I love improving everyday further in my core skills!
