Interview with Guillemette Du Bourg, Procurement Process Manager | Constellium
Purchasing at Constellium is not limited to raw aluminium, or “direct” purchasing. We also buy hundreds of other “indirect” items for the transformation process, from helmets to machine bearings. As part of our team, you will have to opportunity to experience many different types of purchasing and to make critical decisions for the company.
What do you like most about working for Constellium?
For me, Constellium has a perfect balance. It’s a young company, yet built on the legacy of well-known and well-established companies, which provides a rich mix of culture, experience, and talents. It’s also a global company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, providing international opportunities while remaining small enough so that you still feel like you’re “part of it all.” Finally and most important, Constellium is a company with a solid industrial plan, an ambitious vision, and exciting prospects.
What inspires you about working in purchasing?
Purchasing is often perceived as being all about negotiation, but our mission goes well beyond getting the best prices or services. Purchasing is key to managing risk, bringing innovation, and adding value to the business. We are not only a support function. Thanks to strong partnerships with our internal and external stakeholders we can be real business partners.
What skills or past experiences do you think helped you become who you are at Constellium?
I’ve had the opportunity to evolve in various sectors and functions, working in different types of companies and many countries. This singular path has enabled me to develop a flexible, agile, and creative mindset. I adapt easily in a changing environment, which I feel is very useful in any mission. It has also allowed me develop acute listening and questioning skills, which help me to better understand business needs—obviously a crucial part of success in purchasing.
