Alcan EP, a Global Leader of Aluminium Value-Added Solutions, Becomes Constellium
Paris, 3rd May 2011 - Alcan Engineered Products - a global leader in the field of aluminium conversion, development and manufacture of high performance and innovative alloys - announced today that it has changed its name to Constellium. Alcan EP became an independent company in January 2011 as a result of its acquisition by Apollo Management and the French Fonds Stratégique d’Investissement (FSI), with Rio Tinto retaining a significant minority stake. This acquisition marks an exciting turning point in the company’s history and positions it to execute its strategy for growing its businesses, realizing efficiencies and consolidating its position as a world leader in the aluminum fabrication industry.
The Constellium logo is inspired by the most basic element of aluminium - the atom - and the infinite possibilities that can be achieved from this fundamental starting point. By leveraging its world-class innovation and manufacturing capabilities, Constellium develops tailored, best-in-class products as well as new, cutting edge solutions for customers.
Constellium is derived from the word “constellation” - a cluster of stars - evoking the company’s range of innovative products and services, and its approach to integrating and coordinating its businesses to address the diverse needs of customers, suppliers and other business partners and building cooperative, long-term relationships. The new Constellium identity connects and integrates all of the company’s activities, including its three main operating divisions – Global ATI, Specialty Sheet and Extrusion & Automotive Structures.
“We are very excited about our future as a standalone company and we have a clear strategy for maximizing the potential of our businesses,” said Christel Bories, Constellium’s Chief Executive Officer, during a press conference that was held in Paris today. She added: “The new Constellium will continue to be a world leader in the aluminum fabrication industry.”
Constellium is a global sector leader that develops innovative, value added aluminium products for a broad scope of markets and applications, including aerospace, mass transportation, automotive, packaging, energy and building and construction.
With 9,500 employees located in 26 countries and a commercial presence in more than 60 markets, Constellium is structured in 4 divisions: Global ATI, Specialty Sheet, Extrusions & Automotive Structures and its international trading network AIN. Constellium, with headquarters in Paris, is owned by Apollo Management (51%), Rio Tinto (39%) and the “Fonds Stratégique d’Investissement” FSI (10%). Constellium generated US$ 4.4 billion of revenue in 2010.
