With Energ'Iss, the heat recovered from Constellium’s local furnaces for aluminium production will be converted by Dalkia to provide heat and hot water to buildings and homes in the City of Issoire.

Paris, June 3, 2021 - The Energ'Iss heating network project was officially launched today with the announcement of the signing of an agreement between the Constellium, the City of Issoire, and Dalkia during a visit to the Constellium site. Bertrand Barraud, Mayor of Issoire, Stéphane Corre, Director of the Constellium plant in Issoire, and Jérôme Aguesse, Regional Director of Dalkia, were present for the signing, which marks a new and important phase in this innovative project.

With this new heating network, the City of Issoire is demonstrating its commitment to renewable energy by reducing CO2 emissions, while using a more economical solution than traditional heating networks. For Constellium, heat recovery is part of a global approach to promoting sustainable development and energy efficiency, while improving its production tools and processes.

"The City of Issoire is committed to the energy transition thanks to this technologically innovative and environmentally friendly partnership. This project strengthens the close ties between our city and its economic fabric and contributes to the influence of the entire region. Our heating network, through the energy savings it generates, is a message of hope for future generations," explains Bertrand Barraud, Mayor of Issoire.

"We are very proud of our contribution to this ambitious project and to be able to provide solutions that support our community and the environment," explains Stéphane Corre, Director of the Constellium plant in Issoire. "CO2 reduction is a priority for Constellium and for our communities, and such projects demonstrate the benefits of public-private collaboration."

Jérôme Aguesse, Dalkia's Regional Director for the Center-East region of France, said: "We are proud of the trust placed in us by the City of Issoire and Constellium for this sustainable heating network project, which will achieve a rarely equalled 90% rate of renewable and recovered energy. Through its dedicated company Energ'Iss, Dalkia has been able to propose innovative technical solutions for developing green energy in Issoire. The success of this project will help make Issoire a national benchmark for sustainable development."

To implement the heat recovery system, Constellium installed a system to collect residual heat at the exit of its furnaces. Dalkia is responsible for installing a heat exchanger to supply a new distribution network that will provide heat and hot water to some 40 buildings and homes in the city of Issoire. Work is scheduled to begin in November 2021, with the new utility service to be commissioned in the fall of 2022.
