Job Summary:
The Cold Mill Quality Specialist is responsible for keeping metal that meets the quality standards flowing through the process in a timely manner. Perform root cause analysis for quality issues. Maintain the QMS with updates, training, and audits.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily metal disposition of the red bin and quality prison by using the defect catalog and SAP to ensure metal flows to the next operation. (30%)
- Perform data analysis using Excel, Minitab, IBA, SAP, and Optimize to improve quality, scrap rates, mill run ability and reduce costs. (25%)
- Perform root cause analysis on internal and external quality issues by leading QRQC Workshops and using the 8D methodology. (6%)
- Perform process and quality audits to ensure compliance with the quality system. (15%)
- Maintain the Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 by updating the work instructions as needed and perform training with operations. Maintain KPV’s, Go-First Part Checklist, and the Defect Catalog to support the QMS. (6%)
- Develop, Oversee, Analyze, and Implement Process Improvements by coordinating changes with production and support groups. (6%)
- Lead quality improvements within the APU by using FMEA’s, control plans, control charts, and data analysis. (6%)
- Ensure quality essential monitoring and measuring devices meet required standards by performing Gage R&R’s and calibrations. (6%)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
- Certification as an ASQ-CQE, CQA, or six-sigma preferred
- Experience in aluminum automotive sheet quality preferred
- Knowledge of ISO9001 and IATF16949 requirements preferred.
- Must have ability to write technically oriented reports that are understood by the general public.
- Ability to work with a broad cross section of people from top managers, hourly work force and internal and external customers.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and establish appropriate priority.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab and SAP
- Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important
- Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment
About Constellium Muscle Shoals:
Constellium Muscle Shoals is a major aluminum sheet supplier for the packaging and automotive markets. The plant has ~1,200 employees and more than 100 acres under room, including five casting units, hot and cold rolling mills, and a slitting and finishing center. Muscle Shoals produces aluminum sheet for use in all three components of beverage cans (body stock, coated end stock, tab stock) and has the capacity to produce over 1 billion pounds per year of finished aluminum coils. The plant also produces aluminum automotive coils to be processed at our CALP line in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Muscle Shoals’ world-class recycling center is able to recycle the equivalent of 20 billion aluminum cans per year.
