Job Summary:
Leads the technical management of plate and coil operations with a focus on enhancing performance, maximizing material utilization, and minimizing waste through strategic technical initiatives, employee training, and robust process controls. Ensures compliance with metallurgical, technical, and quality standards to meet customer specifications for plate and coil products. Oversees the Hotline Quality Management System, driving improvements that elevate customer satisfaction. Acts as the technical authority and direct supervisor for process and quality teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Hot Line technical team to reduce quality losses and improve processing practices for product capability, efficiency, and material recovery.
- Supervise and mentor area quality/process engineers and metallurgists, ensuring effective training and process improvements.
- Oversee project tracking, reporting, and achievement of quality KPIs.
- Provide technical expertise for daily operations and manage compliance with customer specifications and quality systems.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement data-driven solutions for complex, multi-area issues.
- Manage lubrication process engineering and ensure coolant systems meet industry standards through training and control.
- Lead investigations, qualification of new equipment processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and update SOPs, calibration documentation, FMEAs, and control plans.
- Support new product development for plate and coil products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Metallurgy or Materials Science preferred) or equivalent experience, required.
- 5–10 years of manufacturing experience, ideally in aluminum rolling, required.
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor technical professionals.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successful execution.
- Skilled in leading cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
- Advanced analytical and statistical problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies, strongly preferred.
- Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, preferred.
