Interview with David Tournadre, IT Infrastructure Leader, Issoire | Constellium
The backbone of any company is its IT system. Today, if you want to produce advanced aluminium solutions, you also need advanced information systems. It is the role of Constellium’s IT team to make that happen.
Whether you hold a central or a local function on the IT team, you will often operate in cross-functional project mode. This implies understanding our business needs, and designing and implementing new solutions that keep us at the forefront of our industry.
What do you like most about working for Constellium?
I was looking for a company in my region where I could have the opportunity to develop my skills and work on a variety of projects. I joined Constellium in 2001 as a data center expert. In 2013, I was promoted to the position of infrastructure leader, and I am currently working on many aspects of infrastructure such as network, data center, and workspace. Constellium has allowed me to work on innovative and cutting-edge technological projects, and I enjoy the challenge and variety that this brings.
What inspires you about working in IT?
I find IT exciting, as it is always evolving and has an impact on every department in the company. I think of the IT department as a facilitator. We have to take into account all our users’ needs and try to respond quickly and efficiently. It is also our role to inform and train our colleagues and accompany them on their new projects.
What skills or past experiences do you think helped you become who you are at Constellium?
I have always been interested in new technologies, and curious in general, which has helped me to grow. I also consider myself a team player, and I hope that my solid background working in a local as well as a central IT team has contributed to the positive dynamic we have here.
