the core of our business
We strive to keep our footprint light, like the material our business is based upon. We celebrate the inherent sustainability of aluminium which not only increases efficiency by reducing weight, but can be recycled without losing its properties. We embrace a circular economy for the health of our planet. We prioritize the safety and well-being of our employees and communities, and strive to foster an inclusive environment where all our employees are values and empowered.
Commitment to sustainability
Our company’s deep commitment to sustainability influences the business decisions we make, how we treat people, and the ways in which we create value. We conducted a Materiality Assessment to understand better the expectations from our stakeholders, and we created a Sustainability Council containing representatives from all facets of our business.
By regularly analyzing our progress, we can identify the most critical areas we need to address, focus our efforts to achieve our 2020 targets, and define our objectives for the years to come. For more information, please see our 2019 Business and Sustainability Report.
Reducing GHG emissions intensity by 25%
Constelliums 2025 target aims at reducing GHG emissions' intensity by 25% versus our 2015 baseline, on its scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Improving energy efficiency is still at the heart of our efforts to limit our carbon footprint, since most of our GHG emissions are the product of energy use. We are undertaking various initiatives to be more energy efficient.
A value chain approach
The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit standards setting and certification organization. It works towards responsible production, sourcing, and stewardship of aluminium, following an entire value chain approach.
As a founding member of the ASI, we actively helped launch its Certification program including Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard in December 2017. Our casting and rolling operations in Singen, Germany, have received the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance & Chain of Custody Standard certificate in 2019 and started producing ASI certified products for our customers in 2020. Our extrusion lines in Singen and our Automotive Structures operations in Gottmadingen and Dahenfeld, Germany have received the ASI’s Performance Certificate in October 2020. Our Neuf-Brisach facility in France was certified against ASI’s Performance Standard. It is an important milestone and recognition of our sustainability efforts.
