Ever stronger parts, more economical processes with less impact on the environment... these are the challenges facing metallurgy today.
With the aim of imagining and designing new generations of aluminium alloys, Constellium and the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), in association with the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA), are strengthening their collaboration of over 40 years with the creation of a joint laboratory.
This new laboratory, 3ALP, will draw on the recognized expertise of the Science and Engineering of Materials and Processes (SIMaP) research laboratory in the design of aluminium alloys and innovative processes such as additive manufacturing.
Through 3ALP, Constellium will have access to state-of-the-art characterization and modelling tools and will benefit from the experience of SIMaP scientists in various fields, such as microstructural and multiphysical characterization of materials, instrumental design, and development of artificial intelligence tools for materials.
Drawing on the strength of their previous collaborations, Constellium, the CNRS, and the UGA hope to use 3ALP to explore the research, development and application of innovative methodologies to develop new aluminium-based products that meet the challenges of metallurgy and society in the future.
