Constellium today announced its participation in the European project ACHIEF - Innovative high-performance Alloys and Coatings for HIghly EFficient intensive energy processes. The project, launched in October 2020, gathers 11 partners from across 6 European countries and Turkey, and is dedicated to helping the Energy Intensive Industrial sector reduce the overall consumption of process energy by using new high-performance materials and protective coatings.
Based on specifications and operational parameters, and using an artificial intelligence tool, ACHIEF will propose novel alloy compositions and coatings. The performance and efficiency of the proposed materials solutions and protective layers will be evaluated in three use cases, including at Constellium’s R&D center in Voreppe, France, which will be leading the testing of some of the new materials developed.
Constellium has long placed sustainability at the core of its business and strives to conduct its operations in a responsible way. Curtailing energy use and GHG emissions is a priority, with a target to reduce our GHG emissions intensity by 25% versus a 2015 baseline*. Improving energy efficiency is at the heart of our efforts to limit our carbon footprint.
