Primary Purpose:

 

  • Provides leadership and oversee operations for metal flow operations in casting, which includes receiving raw material and purchase scrap, metal control operations, charge building, and all internal recycling loops in the plant.
  • Provide leadership for developing and continously improving metal value creation in accordance with the stratgey of the Plant, BU, and Corporate directives.
  • EH&S compliance, leadership, and coaching.
  • Develop a organization capable of delivering metal value creation

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Safely and accurately process, handle, dry, stage and charge metal within the established

environmental limits

  • Management Review – report on key metal value creation KPI’s
  • Weekly updates with supply chain and metal procurement to determine on hand inventory,

projected demand for two months, by week, with buffer management

  • Enable the Metal Team / Scrap champion – purchase opportunities and MOC
  • RSI chemistry management (internal) – dross and mixed scrap segregation, reduced chips and

other internal scrap to processors

  • RSI chemistry management (procured) – all elements evaluated and have identified a planned

use before we buy it. Incorporating actual chemistry into the charge plan

  • Level Loading (charge) - using the IT systems to create a master cast schedule and generate

releases, with processing and drying fulfillment confirmations (think C-Bays Furnace Scheduler)

  • Drive increased scrap & RSI content with decreased prime and hardeners to future state targets
  • Purchased scrap processing, handling & drying
  • Plant supermarket management (R3, F1, F2, C-Bays prime)
  • Charge staging management (all areas) for release fulfillment
  • Movement to charge lanes in Casting (TPA type process) – only metal to Casting is released

  • Inventory accuracy – what, where and dry status
  • Manage hourly employee in accordance to the labor agreement

 

Technical Competencies

 

  • Degree in Engineering or other technical field
  • 5 years experience in melt and cast operations
  • Knowledgeable of charge planning and execution
  •  Continuous Improvement training
